Applying to the team
SMRT is always looking for someone with that special niche - not necessarily medical. The team prides themselves on the fact that its membership is so broad. The membership focuses on medical providers but ensures that it has a complement of support personnel to maintain its self-sufficiency for a minimum of 72 hours. The attitude and personality that an individual has is as important as the experience that they bring to the table.

The general training requrements that all members must meet by the end of their six-month probationary period are:
-Enrollment in the State Emergency Registry of Volunteers (SERV-PA)
-Completion of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses of 100, 200, 700, and 800
-Attendence of 50% of the monthly trainings
-Attendence of 1 exercise
